Shaku Dokei Japanese Verge Pillar Clock Edu Period

A rare mid 19th Century possibly Shitan wood Shaku-Dokei Japanese pillar antique clock from the Edo period [1603 - 1868].
15.5 inches / 39cm
Front pillared movement with engraved floral basket, the elongated escapement pinion once would have once carried a butterfly to show the seconds as a subsidiary, (This could easily be reproduced).
The movement is weight driven with its original weight and sprung monometallic balance and verge escapement, the movement is currently running well to capacity and has a later pointer for the dial slide.
The clock is unfortunately missing its hood and lower key drawer, this would be a simple job for a qualified cabinet maker at little cost, on the reverse of the dial slide is hand written time scale, the clock would originally of had several slides to coincide with the changes of seasons/time [toki] but unfortunately as these antique clocks became somewhat defunct the slides all to often were lost.
This fine example was acquired direct from a large country house estate of repute.
