Sheraton Style Revolving Bookcase

Circa 1890. An exhibition quality late Victorian mahogany and inlaid revolving bookcase. The solid top with fine figured mahogany with interesting chevron, ebony, boxwood and broad crossbanding, the fore-edge with double string inlay, as are all the supporting spars on the uprights, two tiers of four sections each with a small shelf separating each one. Beneath the bottom shelf there is a deep frieze with double string inlay, and the whole piece rests on a cruciform wood and metal base with a large rod which allows the bookcase to revolve with ease.
