Silver & shell triple cases - Grosser, c1770

MOVEMENT Gilded movement with square pillars, and engraved and pierced balance cock with ruby endstone. The gilding is still bright and the movement retains the original blued screws throughout. The movement is signed and numbered (605). It is in very good original condition. Running well.
DIAL White enamel dial, in virtually mint condition, with just one tiny flake at the centre and a tiny chip at the catch at 6.
SILVER INNER CASE Maker's mark IM. The case is in excellent condition. The high dome crystal has scratches but no chips.
SILVER SECOND CASE No maker's mark. Again in good condition. The catch is complete and the case snaps shut nicely, but the catch button has worn down.
SILVER/SHELL THIRD CASE The construction is of a brass base with silver rims. In quite good condition with no restoration. There is just one section of shell missing from the bezel (about 0.8 cm) at the hinge and a few short cracks (one with a small hole). Only six pins missing. On the back there is a piece of shell missing, again at the catch, but otherwise in good condition. Just three pins missing. The shell surface is in good condition and retains a nice colour. The hinge, catch and catch button are fine and the case closes nicely.
Johann Jacob Grosser is listed in Augsburg until 1764 before he worked in Furth from 1768. Free worldwide postage.
Payments by cheque, bank transfer, credit & debit cards and Paypal accepted.
