Silver Plate 4 Piece Tea Set, Regis Plate c1900-30


This is a very stylish early 20th century Silver Plate Four Piece Tea Set. The set comprises a teapot, a hot water jug, a cream jug and a sugar bowl with the teapot in the distinctive Georgian Bullet shape and the other pieces styled to match. The late 19th and early 20th centuries so a revival of many Georgian designs and this set is typical of the era.
The tea set is made in Birmingham by William Suckling Ltd as part of their Regis Plate range and dates to between around 1900 and 1930. The firm was founded by William Suckling in 1895 as both silversmiths and electroplaters. They specialised in tableware, particularly tea and coffee sets, producing a huge range of designs. The firm ceased trading in 1965.
Condition is very good, with no significant plate loss or damage, just one shallow bruise on each of the hot water jug, the cream jug and the sugar bowl. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The teapot is 23.5cm / 9.2ins from spout to handle, 12.5cm / 4.9ins across and 14.7cm / 5.8ins high. The hot water jug is 19.5cm / 7.7ins from lip to handle, 11cm / 4.3ins across and 19cm / 7.5ins high. The cream jug is 12.8cm / 5ins from lip to handle, 7.8cm / 3.1ins across and 9.5cm / 3.7ins high. The sugar bowl is 14.3cm / 5.6ins from handle to handle, 8.6cm / 3.4ins across and 9.5cm / 3.7ins high. All together the set weighs in at 1.74kg / 61.4oz.
Each piece is marked on the underside of the base with Made in England, Regis Plate, EPNS (silver plate) and Hard Soldered.
