Silver Plated Milk Jug, Elkington & Co, 1915

1 of 6
This is a good quality George V Silver Plated Milk or Cream Jug from the early years of World War One. The oval shaped jug is in the regency style with a part reeded body and a flat topped handle with lined decoration. The interior of the jug is gold washed, always a sign of quality.
The jug is made by world famous silversmiths and elctroplaters Elkington & Co in Birmingham and dates to 1915. Unlike much silver plated ware, Elkington & Co maintained a date letter system, which enables their pieces to be dated accurately.
The milk jug is in good condition with no dings or dents and no plate loss. The gold washed interior is also in good condition. It is perfectly usable today for milk, cream or sauces for the dining table. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The jug is 14.4cm / 5.5" from lip to handle, 8.1cm / 5.25" wide and 10.7cm / 4.25" high to the top of the handle. It weighs 185.3g / 6.53oz.
The marks on the underside of the base are nice and clear to read. They have the E&Co shield mark, the gothic E & Co, the stamp ELKINGTON PLATE and the all-important date letter "D" for 1915.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
