This is a rare SOLID SILVER Harry Vardon Golf Trophy, dating to 1905 at the height of Vardon's career, this fine piece of Edwardian Silver, hallmarked for Chester by Nathan & Hayes is in excellent condition. The circular socle base sports the celebrated golfer Harry Vardon in full swing.
Born in the Channel Islands, Harry Vardon is without doubt one of the key figures in the history of golf. His record of six Open victories, completed over the space of thirty years, has never been beaten. The first British golfer ever to win the US Open, Vardon deservedly became a golfing legend on both sides of the Atlantic. Winner of 7 major titles, including the US Open in 1900, and the British Open in 1896, 1898, 1899, 1903, 1911, 1914, now a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
This would make an absolutely fabulous antique gift for the golfing gentleman who has just about everything!.
