Silver Verge Pair Case Pocket Watch London, 1801

Silver Verge Pair Case Pocket Watch
London, England - 1801
This is a Victorian silver verge open-face pair case pocket watch made in London, England in 1801. It comes complete with its own key. The watch has just been serviced and cleaned by my watchmaker and is in excellent condition!
Dial: The white enamel dial has black handwritten Roman numerals with black outer five-minute divisions. The dial has elegant golden hands. The high dome bevelled bulls-eye glass is in excellent condition.
Movement: The English verge gilt key-wound movement has a plain cock and silver disc regulator. The movement has attractive engravings with round baluster pillars. The movement is signed “M Williams, London” and numbered 9208. The movement is in excellent working condition as it has just been serviced and cleaned, but we cannot guarantee absolute accuracy for an antique pocket watch.
Case: This verge pocket watch comes in a nice silver open face pair case with a smooth finish on both cases. The inner side of the case is hallmarked Silver, London 1801 and numbered 9208. All the hinges clasp and the buttons are strong with both cases closing firmly. The pair case has an original watch paper inside. Both the movement and the case have identical watch numbers (9208) – proving the watch is genuine!
See book: Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World by Brian Loomes: page 842: Williams.
Signed: M. Williams - London
Diameter: 56 mm – Weight: 128.8g
Made in England – Hallmarked for London 1801
