S.J.'Toby' Nash Watercolour Canterbury Cathedral

We are offering for sale this very well executed watercolour of Canterbury Cathedral by the local Kentish artist S. J. 'Toby' Nash 1891-1960, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts the Cathedral and its main entrance and shows the houses and shop which are on the left once you have entered through the gatehouse.
As S. J. Nash did not appear to have exhibited his work and he is therefore not listed in the reference books, we have been unable to find out any further information about him, although it would apear that he was a Kentish artist, who was often seen in the streets of Canterbury and its environs painting his works. All his works listed on reference web sites appear to have been of Canterbury and places close to Canterbury.
Auction results for works by this artist may be found at artprice(22 listings), findartinfo (44) and arcadja(18.
The painting has been newly double mounted in two tone to complement, and is framed in a 3/4" antique gilt frame with floral and foliate corners. It is ready to hang.
