Small Biedermeier Vienna Regulator Wall Clock
It is some time since I have owned a Vienna Clock veneered in Burr Ash and I must say how attractive this timber is , having a surface that shimmers according to the like source.
This very fine and small size true Vienna regulator wall antique clock was made circa 1855 which retains its original carved cresting and has an excellent inch one piece porcelain dial
Austrian antique antique clocks such as this are entirely hand made and finished by time served master clockmaker and should not be confused with the much cheaper mass produced German antique antique clocks.
Austrian clocks were only made for the most discerning customers (who could afford them) and took many months to complete individually.
Subsequently they are rare items and I have spent 30 years driving all over Europe to source these antique antique clocks,particularly the finer examples.
Unfortunately there are too many people selling modern reproductions to customers.

As you can see from the photographs the burr ash veneers used are quite exceptional with outstanding figure and colour which is enhanced by contrasting boxwood string. The backboard is also veneered in satinwood.
The clock is only 34 1/2 inches long , a maximum width of 9 1/4 inches and 4 3/8 inches deep .The width at the door is only 7 1/2 wide
The hand made weight driven movement of 8 day duration is beautifully made and will be professionally serviced by Overton Clocks of Chesterfield prior to sale.
The pendulum itself is very nice , having a wood rod and a perfect brass backed bob.
The movement is mounted into the case by means of wooden brackets and seat board. The 4 3/4 inch (the standard size is 7inches) white one piece porcelain dial is in excellent restored condition saving the usual tiny chips around the winding square .The hands are original as is the well cast pie crust bezel.
The condition is excellent condition with a wonderful colour and ready to hang straight on the wall . There are some small veneer cracks to the backboard but these do no detract from the appearance.
The proportions are perfect and is worthy of gracing the wall of the most discerning collector.
The sides of the case are glazed with boxwood stringing .
The original winding crank is present. Hopefully the images will show show interested parties all they need to see but prospective buyers are very welcome to view.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh as my photographic skills are very poor.
If the buy it now price is paid in full I will ,deliver the clock free of charge in England ,Wales and the Scottish lowlands and provide a 12 months guarantee.
