A very pretty, small, mid 19th cent. treadle spinning wheel, probably originally made for a child or for exhibition purposes. It is made in fruitwood with an absolutely lovely original colour throughout, the turnings are of very high quality. The wheel is made in brass. The treadle works perfectly and the condition is excellent apart from the spigot missing its teeth. This wheel is continental in origin and may well have been made in Switzerland. Sizes: 19”(48cms) wide, 13”(33cms) deep, 31”(78cms) high including the tall spindle. Date circa 1850. I have reluctantly decided that after 60 years spent in this marvellous business it is, figuratively speaking, time to hang up my cheque book. I have therefore made considerable reductions to the prices of most of my stock. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if any items are of interest. Deliveries carried at as normal.
