An attractive figured walnut chest on chest of small proportions with 8 graduated drawers. The top with ogee moulded cornice, the base with offset shaped bracket feet. The whole with cross banded styles and drawer fronts with shaped brass back plate handles and pine linings. Good warm patina with minor veneer shrinkage but nothing serious. Sizes- Height..64.25..163cm. Width...18.25''...47cm. Depth..18''...46cm. Base Height..33.25...84.5cm. Top Height..31''...79cm. Delivery to most of U.K. £55.
This 1900 to 1920's style of walnut antique furniture is often referred to as "Distressed Walnut" or "Dud Walnut" as old and unpopular pieces were remodelled in the Queen Ann and George I style which was some 200 years earlier. It has now become popular in it's own right.
