Here is an example of a very good quality small antique honey colour mahogany George III two-door Linen Press cupboard, circa 1780 - 1820. The linen press features two solid mahogany locking door moulded panels, which sit below a beautiful protruding moulded cornice. The doors feature a working lock and key. Below, the two oak lined graduated drawers in the base are hand dovetailed and cock beaded – this is a good sign of quality. The base also features the very old replacement brass Regency oval plate handless. The press features lovely proportioned original bracket feet. This is a sought after linen press due to its practical size it does not stand too tall like other linen presses allowing it to fit in most rooms. This press boasts a warm mahogany honey colour. The press dismantles into two sections allowing easy access up the staircase into the bedroom. We can fit for free of charge a hanging rail if it is to be used as a wardrobe. It would be ideal as a hanging wardrobe or even a TV cabinet in the living room.
This item is an excellent investment but also very practical for storage and would look superb in a variety of rooms from the bedroom, hall way or the living room. This item would certainly grace any home. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report
This item is in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and front but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The item retains its original mellow polish. The press has been adjusted in size a long time ago. Both doors close and lock comfortably. There are no warps or splits to the doors. All the oak lined drawer’s open freely. The working key operates the doors only. The back, splayed feet and internal slides are all original. The brass swan oval plate handles are very old replacements. The pediment is fixed. Free of worm-worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
