Small Late 16th Century Boarded Oak Chest c1600
Rare Small Late 16th Century Boarded Oak Chest c1600.
Possibly a child's chest, of diminutive proportion. The front with carved initials, M.W. and a unique roundel to opposite side, both surrounded by punch-work. Riven oak boards constructed with iron nails. Typical 16th century oak top with deep scratched moulded edge, crossing at the corners. Hinges and lock early replacements. Front edge of the lid has a spliced repair. Superb colour and patina. Oak till to interior.
