Smiths WWII Wall Clock The Old George Hotel

Original Smiths WWII mahogany wall clock with platform escapement removed from The Old George Hotel.
12 inch dial marked ‘The Old George Hotel’ with Smiths marker (now faded).
15 inch mahogany case with original glass and hinge housing the 151 8-day Empire platform escapement movement.
(Key provided)
The Empire movement is one designed by the English Clock & Watch Manufacturing Company which was introduced in 1924 and inherited by Smiths when they bought ECWM in 1932. The 151 number on the backplate identifies it as a timepiece with platform escapement. Smiths used the Empire brand for many years after they acquired ECWM so it is difficult to know how long they continued to produce this movement but by the end of WWII they were producing an Empire lever timepiece movement which is of a different design so a reasonable estimate for this clock is between 1932 and 1945.
Item will be thoroughly protected and packaged for transit and sent via U.K Royal Mail 24 hour tracked service.
