Staffordshire Ralph Salt Pearlware Figure St. Luke

An early Staffordshire pearlware figure of St. Luke stood in front of a bocage with an ox lying at his feet as he reads from the Bible. Painted in lovely bright enamels. Attributed to Ralph Salt the branded plaque is missing from the reverse or it may been predominantly absorbed into the body as the edges of the spot for it are marked and there may be the trace of some lettering towards the far edge.
Reference: owned by Myrna Schkolne (scroll about half way down the page for another example).
It measures 22cm (8 5/8") high and 12cm (4 3/4") wide by 7cm (2 3/4") deep.
In excellent condition: it is missing the tip of the ox's left ear and just some very minor losses to some of the tips of the bocage. No other damage, repair or restoration and very minor handling wear. The "St. Luke" on the front hasn't been picked out in enamel as it should and the latter part has sunk a bit into the clay. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost.
