We are offering for sale this attractive, 19th/early 20th Century French School still life oil painting on canvas by an unknown artist. The painting depicts a bunch of large bloom chrysanthemums in mixed, autumnal colours. As the artist hasn't signed the work and, as there are no other clues to their identity on the frame or stretcher, we cannot offer any biographical information.

The stretcher appears to have been hand-made, possibly to fit the original frame and slip, and the canvas bears a stencil mark 10 P11, which may mean that it has been through the hands of Christie's at some time in the past.

The painting is framed in a very attractive, ornate, swept frame and gilt slip. It will be supplied with new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.

Medium: Oils on canvas

Condition: Very good. The surface is clean and taut and there are no repairs, or craquelure and only a slight stretcher mark to the top. The frame is in very good condition with no losses..
