A Stunning George I period figured walnut 8 Day longcase clock made by renowned maker, Joseph Windmills of London.c.1720. Brass and silvered dial with ringed winders, date aperture and seconds count.Strikes on a bell to the hour. Figured walnut case with ebony beading and pillar supports. Fretwork to the moulded cornice top. Glass lentical to the case door. Ebony stringing to the base and sides. Superb colour and patina. Fully overhauled. Stands 78"high.
Joseph and Thomas(son) Windmills of London working 1671-1737. Master of the antique clock makers company from 1702 preceding Thomas Tompion. The partnership also took over Tompion's clock maintenance of the Tower of London and other Crown contracts.
