Stunning pair of fine quality late 19th century Crown Derby vases and covers. An unusual squat shape with narrow flared foot, wide disc shape central body and narrow neck. Topped with a domed cover with pagoda knop. They have ornate arched side handles with mask terminals sitting on the shoulders of the vase. The straps of the handles have pierced detail running along the top surface. Beautifully decorated in alternating bands of cobalt blue with gilded diamond straps with gilt leaves and raised white jewelled dots, and friezes of pink Billingsley type roses. The foot and handles are also finely painted with cobalt blue and gilded bands and the face masks are also gilded. Both are marked to the base and date to c. 1880.

They measure 5” high, 5 ¼” wide across the handle and 4 ¼” across the body. Condition is very good. There is a short hairline to the hidden inner flange of one of the lids but otherwise no damage or restoration and surface wear is very light.
