A very good quality Edwardian figured mahogany freestanding pedestal desk from S.& H. Jewell of 131-2 High Holborn, London. The shaped cross banded and inverted breakfront top having a moulded edge and a very good original tooled leather writing surface. The front having 8 bow fronted, graduated and cock beaded drawers with brass swan neck handles and escutcheons. The centre drawer of concave form, the reverse with 3 outlined faux drawers and 2 outlined faux cupboards. The unusual ends with shaped panels and both pedestals raised on good off set ogee bracket feet. The whole in very good original condition, fully cleaned and waxed, solid oak linings throughout and working brass locks and keys. Ready for the home or office. Dimensions:- Height …31.5’’/ 80cm.
