Superb Antique Corner Cabinet, English, Oak, c1780
This is a superb antique corner wall cabinet. An English, oak, mahogany and boxwood inlaid cupboard, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1780.
Stunning figuring and rich colour set the tone
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in very good order
Select oak with fine grain interest and blooms of medullary rays
Quality boxwood inlay decorates the generously sized cabinet door
Broad crown moulding resides above the whole with contrasting oak frieze panels below
Cockbeaded field panel door, dressed with a small brass pull and inset lock — key absent
Ecclesiastical boxwood inlay with prominent spire above an outlined minaret form
Eye-catching conch shell inlay to the centre with wonderful tone and hues
Select mahogany marquetry offers deeper russet hues of fine distinction
The useful interior arranged as three bow-front shelves of sinuous form
Single small drawer with supplementary faux drawers to the base, with rich mahogany fascia
Standing upon a gently tiered plinth base with canted corners - supplied with brackets for ease of wall mounting
