This is a fine pair of antique French mirrors dating from around 1860. The pair have an unusual and very pleasing antique finish, with much of the gilding softly rubbed to reveal a beautiful cream gesso base beneath. The ornate frames have moulded and acanthus scrolled borders, the corners having C scrolls, shells and acanthus leaves, and the mirrors are surmounted by a pierced plume as blacksmith cherubs lifting a large horseshoe, with anvil, bellows fire tools and a brazier either side. The mirror glass to both are in excellent order with no marks, ageing or blemishes.

These measure118 cms high by 92 cms wide. They would look fabulous as a pair of alcove mirrors.
