A stunning pair of metal mounted pottery vases in the height of Art Nouveau design. The vase bodies are in a shaded glaze from dark blue to turquoise. The metal mounts are probably pewter and the design is based around whiplash curves and a central motif of an orchid. The pair are marked: one impressed with BR 8709, the other incised with the sign model number. The pair are almost certainly by the German potters Johann von Schwarz and designed by Carl Sigmund Luber. The condition is very good, there is some wear to the metal work but the ceramics are excellent. C.1900.
