Superb William and Mary Walnut Chest on Stand

A superb quality and beautiful William and Mary figured walnut chest on original stand. The walnut particularly well figured and the having a fabulous well developed colour and patina.
The top with deep moulded border and centred with a design of inlaid feather banding, repeated to the drawer fronts and the sides of the chest and stand with deep cross banding.
Made by a skilled cabinet maker in around 1690, it is rare to find these chests with their original stand and feet. The lovely brass handles are 19th century replacements for the originals which would have been brass drops. The handles with deeply engraved back plates.
Original oak drawer linings and locks are present including some original iron locks. Some old worm holes to the feet and here and there on chest and stand but only a few and all long since dead.
Because it was so well made, loved and carefully looked after and because the chest on stand was always ideally suited to its purpose, it has remained in excellent original condition with only minor restorations, a couple of replaced elements to the stretcher and one rear leg of the stand. These are professional 19th century restorations and not at all unusual or frowned upon on a piece of this great quality and age.
Strongly recommended, a beautiful, very original and superbly proportioned little 17th Century chest on stand with a wonderful colour.
Dimensions are:
41.75 inches wide, 24.75 inches deep and 47.25 inches high.
The top lifts off the stand for ease of transport at 19.5 inches from the floor.
For metric please multiply by 2.5 I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.
I operate a full refund guarantee and am always happy to give free, honest and friendly advice.
