Tall Elegant 19thC Bookcase, all glazed
A most unusual tall bookcase in Rosewood and Mahogany. This bookcase (can also be used as a display case) having been through our workshops for some minor bits and bobs and re French polishing the woodwork is now in great condition.
Carrying a Withy Grove plaque from the Manchester store we suspect this may have been custom made. The base is predominently rosewood and the top mainly mahogany. The is some rather fine detailing on the styles of the base cabinet but the mould detailing all matches.
We have changed the top lock for a new one that will lock but we still have the original which can go with this bookcase that carries the VR logo for Victoria Regina as does the base one.
This bookcase will be really at home in a tall room Georgian or Victorian or maybe a barn convertion where the is a full height space from floor to roof beams. It is just over 100ins tall so could look fantastic in the right location.
What is particularly good about this bookcase is that the bottom is 14ins deep inside and the top is 10 ins deep. Most tend to be about 8ins so can be a bit short for larger books.
All in all an impressive piece of 19th Century antique furniture that is well made and so useful in the right setting. ..........................SORRY NOW SOLD.............. We are in consequence looking to reduce our stock, Delivery can be arranged with a specialist carrier for around £70 to most areas.
