Tapestry Work Stand - Walnut - c1880

A very pleasing and useful large tapestry needlepoint late Victorian work-frame presented in light walnut.

Twin arch feet are united by a lower turned stretcher which also serves as a footrest. The turned frame uprights lead to the double threaded side rods which are complete with the original adjuster hand-knobs.

The work-frame benefits from original screws and hinging. When in use the angle of the work-piece can be adjusted in any position from vertical through to flat, allowing for seating comfort no matter where the crafter is seated. The generously sized adjuster knobs allow for good tension to be applied to the textile with ease.

Whilst this is a wonderfully practical item this fine frame will also look magnificent as a display piece.

Overall an unusual antique with great versatility.
