Thomas Forester Gilded Blue Vase c1900


We have for sale a very attractive Thomas Forester & Sons flow through blue Pheonix Ware vase.
This striking footed ovoid long necked Phoenix Ware vase is decorated in flow through cobalt blue on a heavily gilded ground with a floral design to the body and flecks of gilding to the neck and rim. The base carries the Thomas Forester & Sons mark used between 1991-1912.
Thomas Forester & Sons of Longton were important majolica manufacturers and at one time employed over 700 people making them the largest employer of the late Victorian period in Staffordshire.
Th vase is approximately 9 inches (23cm) high and 5 inches (12.5cm) in diameter at its widest point. The vase is in a very good condition, although there is a little surface wear to the gilt.
