This is such a beautiful compact & lipstick holder. They come in the original presentation box with all the original accessories. Made in the 1950s for the Melissa brand. Even the presentation case is in excellent condition. The base is lined with silk & the lid is signed Melissa. The set has not been used. The compact is adorned with high quality midnight blue enamel on to which enchanting golden yellow flowers & deep green foliage have been painted by hand. The lid lifts to show an excellent mirror which gives a very good accurate reflection. The powder well is protected by the original paper insert. The pristine fabric puff has a silk top which is signed 'Melissa' in gilt lettering. The velour edged sifter is in superb unused condition too. The whole compact has a jeweller's / jeweler's gilt finish - a gilt lacquered coat which means it will always retain the golden sheen and will not need to be cleaned. The base is an eye-catching engine turned design with golden diamond shapes. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The lipstick holder is also in excellent unused condition and it has been satinized - a brushed effect to render it with the finish as smooth as satin.
