Unusual Satirical Drawing - Soldiers Playing Cards

An Unusual and Interesting Antique Drawing
Very well drawn, this fine antique drawing depicts the rather fun and satirical scene of two soldiers playing cards, whilst seated on a fallen tree.
The soldier to the left has placed a clothes peg on his nose and is watched over by a guard standing behind.
It could depict a break in battle, or is perhaps a satire on English-French relations?
They are in 18th century dress, but I think the drawing is late 19th century.
Executed in heavy lead or black chalk into paper.

Condition Some age-related wear and discolouration. This is most noticeable to the sky area which has turned a little 'tea' coloured. That said the image is still intact and reads well across the whole surface. There are a few foxing marks but these are minimal. It remains a charming picture.
