A very unusual early Victorian upright oak bureau, made almost as halfway between a bureau and a secretaire. The bureau has a cupboard base with panelled doors and shelved interior. Above the cupboard are two shallow long drawers with the original brass handles. The bureau interior is all original with gothic design centre and banks of drawers, it is lined with the original green baise. The whole is in very good condition with as one would expect the od knock and repair, the patina and colour is original and untouched. This a most unusual, quirky, but useful piece of antique furniture, typical of country oak made antique furniture taking inspiration from the fashions of the day but not following them doggedly. The bureau is so shallow it would happily fit in a hallway and yet is extremely useful and would give a great quirky country look.
