An extremely rare 16.5 inch platter designed by Vanessa Bell for the 1934 Harrods and Art in Industry exhibitions. A huge, heavy and imposing piece, it measures 16.5 inches x 13 inches (42 x 33 cm). It does have a crack which has probably occurred during firing. There are also a few scratches (thankfully though, not on the blue enamel) so it has certainly been used for it’s purpose! It is however a rare piece. I understand that only 12 sets of the Harrods exhibition services were produced and there would only have been one large platter per set.
