As rare as hen's teeth - Edward VIII married Mrs Simpson and did not make it to the throne, however this wonderful old powder compact will have been issued to commemorate the pending coronation that was scheduled for May 12th 1937 - to the top is a gold surround with a coin image of the Young, never to be King, prince. Set to a hard polished black base, probably bakelite, the top is in fabulous order with the , the hinges are all in good order, opening to reveal a clean interior and nice cream plastic framed clear mirror - there is then an inner opening lid, which is clean - I doubt this has ever been used - measuring c. 2.3/4" inch diameter, a rare, collectable powder compact that will not disappoint.
