Antique Victorian Arts and Crafts oak leather armchair, throne chair or carver.
Fantastic Arts and Crafts styling.
Quality, attractive and well made armchair, with no loose joints or wobbles.
There are some historical repairs, and steel strengthening brackets have been added to the underside of the stretchers, but all is good, solid and strong now.
Great proportions and styling, which would look amazing in the right location.
The dark blue leather upholstery is old, with wear and cracking, but no splits or holes.
Overall maximum dimensions
63cmW x 65cmD x 112cmH (50cmH seat when sat on).
Historic knocks, marks, cracks, scratches, repairs and alterations, as is always the way with antique furniture of this age. Historical repairs, as is the norm, but all is solid now. We have not inspected components concealed beneath the upholstery, but the seat is quite comfortable without the typical lumps and bumps of an antique chair. There is some minor chipping / splitting on the wood at the leather interface on the back, caused by upholstery nails....not structurally significant or particularly noticeable (as it is on the back). No significant woodworm.
