This exquisite Victorian burr walnut davenport is a true masterpiece. It features four working drawers and four dummy drawers, all adorned with the original turned walnut knobs. The piano top opens to reveal a pull-out adjustable writing slide with a beautifully preserved tooled leather writing surface, a fitted pen tray, and two small drawers.
A hidden catch in the right-hand drawer activates the ingenious "pop-up" mechanism, revealing a magnificent fretwork interior with various compartments for stationery and other essentials. The carved walnut-shaped scroll supports are stunning and stand proudly on a plinth base with turned bun feet.
This wonderful piece of history is not only visually captivating but also incredibly functional. It is in excellent condition, with minor wear commensurate with its age and use, making it a standout addition to any study or office.
