Victorian Carved Mahogany Period Music Cabinet

A lovely antique music cabinet. We date this cabinet to the late 19th century.
The cabinet has a plaque on the rear for Robson & Sons, Northumberland Street, Newcastle-On -Tyne and sits on four decorative bracket feet.
The cabinet consists of a small display case with a glazed drop front door. The interior is fitted with three removable gold velvet covered shelves. Above is a raised carved serpentine front shelf with an attractive carved gallery.
The base has a carved panelled drop front filing cabinet.
The doors are fitted with attractive brass handles.
The cabinet has an overall height of 49.5" (125cm) including cornice, a width of 19.5" (50cm) and a depth of 16" (40cm).
This lovely Victorian cabinet remains in good solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage, including marks and scratches to the table top and shelf area. The shelf has a lighter mark and there is some minor wear to the velvet on the internal shelves. The left hand side panel has slight mellowing due to its place in the sun over time.
This remains a stylish and elegant cabinet that would function well as a great little display cabinet / filing cabinet. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
