A good majolica sardine box and cover by George Jones in an unusual colour way of lilac ground with jade green, chartreuse and a bluey silver colour on the three salmon laying across the cover in a bed of seaweed and the usual ochre yellow rims. The base with clear unmottled section painted on black with the model number.

Reference: George Jones Ceramics by Cluett, Figure 109.

It measures 15cm (5 7/8") by 12.8cm (5") wide and 9cm (3 1/2") high.

In excellent condition with no damage repair or restoration and minimal handling wear. The inside has some crazing. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
