A fine quality Victorian mahogany estate cabinet-on-chest. Originally retailed by Bertram and Son of London , in the George II style. A rare and unusual item.

The top enclosing twenty four pigeon holes, behind a pair of cupboard doors . The base , bachelors chest, has a brushing slide, over two short and three long graduated drawers, stamped: 'BERTRAM & SON, DEAN ST., OXFORD ST. Doors and drawers lockable with keys supplied. Offered for sale in excellent original condition, ready to go straight into the home.

William Bertram is recorded as a antique furniture dealer based at 100 Dean Street in Soho, London from 1839 onwards. Documented examples of furniture retailed by Bertram and Son include various pieces in the French styles, Dictionary of English Cabinet Makers, 1660-1840, ed. by C. Gilbert and G. Beard, p.68.
