Victorian Mahogany Four Door Breakfront Wardrobe

A beautiful Victorian breakfront wardrobe of super quality and dating to circa 1860. It features an arched centre section, decorative columns and corbels, bevelled mirrors and well figured flame mahogany veneers.
It has a moulded cornice with rounded corners and beaded mouldings above four long panelled doors with decorative mouldings and corbels to the centre section. The flanking columns are decorated with carved collars to the top middle and base and the whole piece stands on a plinth base. The doors have their original bevelled mirrors and open with turned wooden ‘twist-to-open’ knob handles, it is still fitted with the original ‘R L & Co’ locks and has catches to the top and bottom of the left door.
The doors open to reveal the original fitted interior with a hat compartment (which could have shelf added) and six graduated drawers to the centre, and two long hanging sections with base drawer to each sides. The sides have brass hanging rails as well as the original wooden pegs. The drawer fronts have also been veneered in an attractive mahogany and each drawer has the original brass handles.
For ease of transporting and moving this wardrobe separates into five sections with the cornice lifting off allowing the three main sections to each be lifted off the plinth base.
Condition
This is in very good condition, with regards to veneer loss we have only found a very small sliver missing from the top of the centre left door, and some loss from the left side on the back edge. There are some usual scuffs to the plinth from the doors opening and on the inside the lining fabric would be better removed or replaced as it is discoloured with spots. There are no keys but the doors open and close properly because of the twist-open handles, a locksmith should be able to cut a key.
