Victorian Mahogany Marble-Topped Bedside Cabinet
This attractive antique bedside cabinet dates from around the 1860s. It is constructed primarily from mahogany, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. It has fixed marble top. Beneath this is a single door which retains its original twist-lock handle, which opens to reveal a single fixed wooden shelf inside. The piece is supported on a plinth base.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There are some areas of veneer chipping and wood loss in places, and there is some minor wood shrinkage splitting to the sides. the marble top has some marks and has roughened patches in the back corners.
