Victorian Medical Apothecary Chest And Contents

A rare and very full Victorian apothecary or medical chest, ideal for collectors of antique medical equipment, historical curiosities, or vintage pharmacy display. This 19th-century mahogany box (lacking key) opens to reveal a velvet-lined interior housing 16 glass bottles, with ground stoppers, original labels, and some with coloured contents. In the drawer below, compartments store weights, scales, a pestle and mortar as well as dispensing bottles (one with replacement stopper), making it a fine example of a period portable medicine kit as used by physicians or apothecaries. One bottle for example is marked “Rhus Tox, Ø,” typical of homeopathic or herbal remedies of the era, while two others (thankfully empty) are marked 'Poison'
This Victorian medicine chest offers both aesthetic appeal and historical value and is just perfect for collectors, interior designers, suitable retail display, or prop use. A highly decorative and collectible piece for any enthusiast of antique science, medicine, or homeopathy
Please note: the lay figure included in some of the photographs is not included but is available separately
