Victorian Oak Dining Table & 2 Leaves, 6ft 10/seat

An attractive late Victorian small wind-out extending dining table in quarter-sawn oak with two original leaves and dating to c.1880. With an Arts & Crafts influence it has a rectangular top with canted corners and a moulded edge and stands on four ring-turned tapering baluster shaped legs with brass caps and brown pottery castors. This family size 41in wide table smoothly extends from 4.5ft to 6ft 10in using a Joseph Fitter ‘screw expander’ winding mechanism allowing it to seat up to 8 people if using both leaves.
With a lovely warm colour and super pattern to the timbers it has been recently polished and waxed by hand using traditional materials. Medullary rays from the quarter-sawn cut of the oak produce the attractive golden ‘tiger grain’ pattern. Good size for dining room or as a kitchen table.
Extended Length - 6ft 10in / 82in (208.5cm)
Closed Length - 4ft 5.75in / 53.75in (136.5cm)
Width - 41in (104cm)
Height - 28.75in (73cm)
Legroom
23.38in (60cm) under frieze
24.5in (62cm) under inserted leaves
If extra legroom is required a set of wooden castor cup risers can be purchased separately.
Leaves - 15.13in and 13in (38.3cm and 33cm)
