A large Victorian extending dining table in golden quarter-sawn oak and with eight leaves and winding handle. Dating to c.1860 this 56in wide table smoothly extends from 6ft 7in to 18ft 1in using a Joseph Fitter double screw winding mechanism allowing it to seat up to 20 people comfortably if using all the leaves. The rounded rectangular top with a double moulded edge and standing on six carved, turned and fluted tapering legs with brass caps and brown pottery castors. .

Sympathetically cleaned and polished by hand using traditional materials and the winders serviced. A double system of paired runners creates the impressive length whilst the extra legs provide additional support, there is an old repair to one runner. Would also make a versatile boardroom or conference table.

Width - 4ft 8in / 56in (142cm)
Height - 28 3/4in (73cm)

Leaves - 6 x 17in, 17 1/4in and 18 3/4in (6 x 43.3cm, 43.8cm and 47.6cm)
Legroom - 23 1/4in (59cm) under end frieze and 27 5/8in (70cm) under inserted leaves
