Victorian Oak Pedestal Desk
A distinguished Victorian oak pedestal desk of exceptional quality and generous proportions, presented in the desirable free-standing form.
The desk is raised upon a plinth base and features the classic arrangement of nine mahogany-lined drawers, each finely crafted and fitted with turned wooden knobs. The drawers retain their original Hobbs locks, a mark of quality synonymous with leading cabinet makers of the period.
The top is inset with a rich green leather writing surface, beautifully finished with hand-applied gilt and blind tooling, providing both elegance and practicality.
Constructed in three sections for ease of transport and installation, the desk combines robust craftsmanship with functional design. It bears the original trade label for Edwards & Roberts, one of the most respected London cabinet makers of the 19th century, further underscoring its quality and provenance.
A superb example of Victorian craftsmanship, offering both aesthetic refinement and everyday usability.
