A fine quality Victorian papier mache, fitted jewelley box with its original black lacquer decoration, it is profusely decorated and inlaid with mother of pearl. The box comes with a working key. It opens to reveal a very pretty and completely original fitted interior with compartments, lids and a tray which can be lifted out so that a further storage compartment can be accessed. This box is in good original condition with the gilding on the exterior and the fittings to the interior showing some wear commensurate with the age of the box. Sizes: 12”(39cms) wide, 9”(23cms) deep, 4”(10cms) high. Date circa 1870. I have reluctantly decided that after 60 years spent in this marvellous business it is, figuratively speaking, time to hang up my cheque book.
