Victorian Pine Part-Glazed Bookcase Cabinet
This antique country pine bookcase dates from c.1890. It is made from solid pine with a glazed upper section. The top section has two doors which open to reveal two removable pine shelves. Below this is a single drawer over a two-door cupboard with a single removable pine shelf inside. The piece is supported on a plinth base. The cupboards have pine knob handles and the drawer has metal handles - some or all of these have probably been replaced at some point. Please note that the piece splits in two for ease of transportation.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition but does have some quite heavy wear consistent with age and use. There is some heavy scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There are some signs of possible alteration and repair, including some metal plates fitted to the inside of the lower cupboard doors, and the handles look to have been replaced. There is some wood shrinkage cracking in places and some marks and staining to the woodwork. There are some areas of wood loss.
