Here we have a pretty Victorian Posy Vase of urn shape by Eliza Simmance for Doulton Lambeth from 1880. The body of the vase is decorated with a raised design of flowers and foliage around the body with top and bottom rims of petals. The wide neck has a rich blue glaze on the inside and around the outer rim.

Eliza Simmance was one of Doulton's most accomplished and longest serving artists, her career spanning 55 years from 1873 to 1928. She was at the forefront of Doulton's evolution from Victorian Gothic through Art Nouveau to Art Deco. She started working alongside the Barlow family but by 1880 was sufficiently regarded to have here own team within the Doulton Lambeth set up. Her work is always exceptional and this beautiful little posy vase is a fine example.

Condition is extremely good, with no chips or cracks and no damage to the raised design. It is very clean inside and has probably been kept primarily as a decorative piece for the last 140 plus years. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The vase is 8cm / 3.1ins high and 6.8cm / 2.7ins in diameter across the top rim. It weighs 171.6g / 6oz.

The underside of the base has the Doulton Lambeth stamp, the E S signature for Eliza Simmance, the dO stamp for her assistant Lizzie M. Daintree and the date stamp 1880.
