Victorian Silver Plate Sifter Spoon, Cooper Bros

This is an attractive Victorian Silver Plate Sifter Spoon in the Aesthetic style. The pierced bowl is shell shaped and the arching stem is hand engraved with flowers below a blank cartouche.
The sifter spoon was made in Sheffield by Cooper Brothers and dates to around the 1870s to 1890s. The firm was established in 1866 by brothers Thomas & John Cooper, becoming Cooper Brothers & Sons Ltd in 1895. They produced a wide range of silverware and silver plate but are best known for their high quality cutlery and flatware in many different patterns. The business was finally bought out in 1983.
Condition is extremely good with no dings, dents or damage, no significant plate loss and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The spoon is 15.3cm / 6ins long and 4.5cm / 1.8ins across the bowl. It weighs 27.0g / 0.95oz.
The underside of the stem is stamped C B S in Gothic letters for Cooper Brothers and Sheffield and EP in an oval for silver plate.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
