Here we have a late Victorian Silver Plated basket with its original blue glass liner. The basket has a folding beaded handle and a beaded rim around the scalloped edge. The body of the basket is beautifully hand engraved with an intertwining floral and foliate design surrounding a blank cartouche on each side. There is a pedestal base which has a pierced leaf design and a beaded rim.

This is a versatile piece that could be used for sweets or nuts, for soft fruits such as strawberries or for sauces on the dining table. Alternatively it could hold pot pourri or would simply make a very decorative item in its own right.

Condition of the basket is very good with no dings, dents or plate loss. The blue glass liner is fully intact with no chips or cracks. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The basket is 15.3cm / 6ins long, 10.2cm / 4ins wide and stands 18cm / 7.25ins high with the handle in an upright position. It weighs 512g / 18ozs.
