Stunning Victorian, solid camphorwood, campaign trunk in lovely original condition. Bearing owners name and date written to inside of lid. With original brass strapping, heavy solid brass lifting handles and with a working lock and key. Ideal for use as a coffee table.

Written inside lid is the inscription:
W. Russell, March 9th 1891..... Snow.
Checking this date it was the first day of the Great Blizzard of 1891 where 6,000 animals and 200 men died in 15 feet of snow in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. Lets hope he wasn't one of them.
