Circa 1870, Victorian walnut and burr walnut pedestal desk, the crossbanded top with a new leather writing surface and a stylish moulded edge. Beneath the top is one long narrow drawer in the centre which is ash lined and has nice beading around the drawer and knob handles. On either side of this are 4 graduating drawers again with beading and knob handles, and 4 framed panels. The gables are made of solid walnut. The desk is in one piece and stands on an enclosed plinth. Beautiful colour, good size and excellent condition.
