Victorian Wedgwood Black Basalt Jug 1887

We have for sale a very nice example of a Victorian black basalt Wedgwood jug with a silver plated lid.
The jug is approximately 6 and 1/2 inches (16.5cm) high and is decorated with classical scenes in relief. The body of the jug extends to a lovely handle in the form of a rope and the jug is mounted with a silver plated lid in the form of a seashell. The silver plated mounts carry the post 1886 makers marks for James Deakin & Sons and the base of the jug carries the Wedgwood stamp along with date marks for the 24th September 1887.
The jug is in an excellent condition with no chips cracks or repairs and the silver plated lid is in a very good condition having been re-plated at some point.
